RED DAWN Cast Diary
Information Night
INFORMATION NIGHT was great fun, the cast and crew got to meet each other for the first time. They were treated with a PowerPoint presentation explaining the concept, filming schedule and expectations of being a part of the Now Family. The cast received their cast t-shirts and posed for a photo (serious and silly). All the cast were provided with their costumes and checking sizes.
Fortunately, one cast member had their birthday, so plenty of cake was eaten to celebrate.
The cast are very excited to start filming in only one weeks time...

Day One - Filming
Day One filming was at the Now Arts Studios. Time was spent of character work through filming their montages in front of a blue screen, which will be used for promotional tools as well as opening for the premiere in August. We moved onto four scenes. Utilising driving skills of the cast, turning Now Studios into any kind of backdrop needed.
Long but important day. Well done to all, cast and crew. Great work!

Day Two - Filming
Day Two filming was split into two evening sessions. The first session was held at the Playford Uniting Church with select few for a secret scene. Only select few cast members found out who plays the role of Roman, dread and feared villain.
Then, onto the Key Storage in Smithfield. Here we filmed an interrogation scene between Teri Jester and Jasper Price. Mysterious and plot twisting fun was had with a simple but extremely impressive backdrop. Great fun to be had!

Day Three - Filming
Day Three filming was a long day, many scenes to film with some amazing spaces within the Playford Uniting Church. We love to film in this location, turning small offices into any kind of scenery we need. Left to our own devices, we are really able to bring this story and adventure to life.
What's even more special, is knowing that our movie premiere will be shown in this same venue in mid August!

Day Four - Filming
Day Four filming was a fun and chaotic day all rolled into one. With three destinations across Adelaide we hit the ground driving in a van and headed to Norwood. Our first film of the day was set at the Cue Bar on the Parade. We were given full access to the well known pool hall, shooting balls and not potting many due to an intense filming schedule. This location acted as the hideout to the Tigress run by Red and Black, the loan sharks of Adelaide.
Next up, we drove back up to the Now Arts Centre, not before dropping off the van we hired from Budget. With a great relationship with our neighbours we moved into the Adelaide Independent Fire office, utilising their office space to act as our "Investigates R Us" venue.
Last but by no means least, we made our way to Hilton. Here we hired out the Star Theatres for the filming session of the Siberian Mafia. Meeting our Siberian family and their gruesome ways to maintain hold of the south of the city.
This was an intense but necessary day, knocking off a large chunk of our movie.

Day Five - Filming
Day Five filming was at the Hewett Community Centre today, filming in and around the venue for some additional scenes and links missing from the movie to date. Good fun and really beneficial session. A lot of action scenes, some driving and plot twists. Only two more filming sessions to go, starting with tomorrow (Sunday 12th June) at the Now Arts Centre and then Monday at St Brigids in Evanston!

Day Six - Filming
Day Six filming was at the Now Arts Centre. Our second to last filming day, four hours and necessary to plot fillers that brings the movie almost to a close. After three weekends of filming, we finally get to meet the character Toni Francs. Full of action and fun, the cast and crew had a blast filming at the studios - albeit slightly cold weather!

Day Seven - Filming
Day Seven filming was our last day of filming. Today we were at St Brigid's Catholic School in Evanston, filming our scene, "I thought you were a good shot?!" Only four actors needed for this session due to an unforeseen clash earlier in the schedule. Great venue to film at and the cast enjoyed acting their hearts out.

That's a Wrap Party!
It's a Wrap Party celebrating our three weekends of filming, the cast and crew were treated to spy games, obstacle courses and missions to complete throughout the evening. The famous Now Productions Crossword was completed and a spot of RED DAWN bingo, all working towards the crew winning candy rewards. As a big thank you, pizza and hot chips were a big hit and to top the evening off, we all sat down to discuss conspiracy theories for the storyline and the everyone's highlights for the movie project. Another great movie project down, 5th movie has been completed!
