ALADDIN JNR!
CAST DIARY
DAY ONE
|
We're off to a great start, cast t shirts for everyone and their cast scripts. Marketing tools underway, banner up at the studios and posters handed out.
The cast got to read through with each cast, learning what to expect and sing through the songs. This day can be long and tiring but also very important for the production crew to see what they're working with. So much fun, to see our young auditionees and now cast members beginning their journey towards the Shedley Theatre. Making new friends, learning new skills and providing opportunities to the local community. Support our cast and crew, share images and the Trybooking link. Let's sell out our shows in record time! First in, best seats! 25/06/2022 by Joe Russell (Producer) |
DAY TWO
|
Day Two kicks off with some vocal and acting tuition from our Production Crew. A great day had by all, managed to achieve all planned with 20 minutes to spare. Vocal Coaches got to work closely with the principals, see the different levels of skill and adapt their teachings to fit the needs. Luckily for us, they are all amazing!
Aladdin leaflets have also arrived, which means the marketing has kicked into an extra gear. Best seats in the house are going to go quickly, so purchase your tickets asap to avoid disappointment. Day three tomorrow, more vocal coaching and staging/blocking of scenes. Great work cast and crew, keep it up! 02/07/2022 by Joe Russell (Producer) |
DAY THREE
|
Day Three starts with choreography from Maisy Jo as she puts the cast through their paces! Maisy's no stranger to choreography, teaching Musical Theatre at SA Performing Arts and choreographed all dance from our recent shows Seussical Kids!
Meanwhile, our costume peeps got to work on cutting and sewing costumes for the show. Great fun to be had whilst awaiting your child to finish rehearsals. We finished up with vocals for all cast and then our principals! It's sounding great and already we know we have a hit on our hands! We can't wait for you all to see how great this show is going to be! 03/07/2022 by Joe Russell (Producer) |
DAY FOUR
|
Day Four starts with our first blocking session, Scene Two! Why scene two I hear you ask? Well, our schedule is built around availability. When cast audition, we ask them what dates they are able or unable to attend for rehearsals. These dates provided allow us to schedule rehearsals around the cast availability. So, the cast that were able to attend, allowed us to start with the blocking for scene two.
The remainder of the cast were to attend later today for more vocal tuition. These rehearsals can be time consuming, but hearing the end results - the harmonies and tuning, it's amazing. As you can see, some props are already coming to life, with Jafar's staff! The Director and Producer also got together within the rehearsal and planned the entire staging/set design for the show whilst the costume department were able to pull cast members from rehearsals and work on specific characters. It's so great to see parts of the production fall into place, not wasting any time during rehearsals. It's great to see a team come together in the effort to bring this amazing musical to life. 09/07/2022 by Joe Russell (Producer) |
DAY FIVE
|
Day Five begins after a two week break. However, this didn't stop the cast and crew crack on with choreography and vocals. The team worked hard to choreograph High Adventure and One Jump Ahead. Then moving onto a vocal rehearsal for One Jump Ahead, a Whole New World and the Finale. The day became quite long, however a much needed tuition for the biggest songs in the show. The cast and crew had an amazing time, smiling and jumping around on stage. With only three weeks until this cast begin their full run through with scripts down. Ouch!
We can't wait to bring this family fun story to life! 30/07/2022 by Joe Russell (Producer) |
DAY SIX
|
Day Six finds the cast finishing their choreography, vocals and staging.
hat does that mean? It means, we're ready for full run throughs. Props and set are well underway, the market stalls and swords are the beginning of props with many more to come. Always great to see the show come to life with added props / set pieces to use. Really gives the cast the feel of the show and helps the crew's vision come to life before we even hit the stage in September. Only one month out now, make sure you purchase your tickets on the link below! 08/08/2022 by Joe Russell (Producer) |
DAY SEVEN
|
Day Seven finds the cast finishing off some final touches and then their first complete run through. Props starting to come together, costumes being tried on and used for marketing. Finally the show is starting to take shape.
Our crew's vision is coming together and really starting to breathe. Our costume crew have really shined and made our cast extra special. 21/08/2022 by Joe Russell (Producer) |
DAY EIGHT / NINE
DAY EIGHT was an eye opener for the cast and crew. Two full run throughs for each cast. All performers got to see what areas they really need to work on. The crew explained their expectations and by the end of the day, what an improvement. With some extra practice at home this week, we're confident our final run through at the next weekend rehearsals will be amazing. Keep practicing guys and gals!
DAY NINE On Wednesday 31st August, the Co-Directors and the Producer met about their plans and some great secrets to be unfolded for the weekend and the upcoming shows. We can't wait to see this show come together.

DAY TEN / ELEVEN
DAY TEN and ELEVEN - Amazing rehearsal today for the Aladdin Jnr cast! Both Carpet and Lamp Casts really brought their A Game and rocked the studios. Only one more rehearsal to go tomorrow as we enter “Production Week!”
Keep practicing and rehearsing the choreography/vocals.
Today we had a special award handed out, the JoJo Award. This was decided by me to a performer that shone in stage. Great stage presence and really committed to lifting the cast.
Genie (Melanie) and Caitlin (Ensemble). You both were amazing and they were given a memento for their hard work. A small Genie Lamp ornament.
Our costume team really worked hard this weekend to finish the show costumes. Great work and we can't wait to see it all come together on stage.
